When it comes to putting on makeup, there are lots of decisions to make.

This ranges from what products to use on your skin, how much of it to apply and for many women, how to do it fast!

According to a  TODAY/AOL body image survey, women spend an average of 55 minutes each day on their personal appearance. That works out to a total of two weeks each year doing things like applying makeup and fixing your hair!

If you live an active lifestyle on the go, there are easier ways to achieve the look you want. Especially if you want to increase your productivity each day.

Read on to find out 11 colorful DIY makeup hacks you should master!

1. Hide crow’s feet with primer.

One of the things women deal with as they age is crow’s feet. These annoying, tiny wrinkles are found near the corner of your eyes and usually begin to appear in your mid-to-late 30’s.

But the good news is that there is a great trick making these wrinkles disappear!

Apply a small amount of primer to the corners of your eyes to help you have a smooth look around that area. It’s a quick and easy trick that is also very effective.

Try it out!

2. Minimize your peach fuzz by how you apply your foundation.

Many women have a thin layer of hair on their faces – it’s just part of being human. Even the well-known British singer, Adele, has spoken openly about the longer facial hair she started experiencing when she was pregnant.

“When I got pregnant I had so much testosterone in me that I grew a beard…I only cropped it last night,” Adele said, according to Lindsey Unterberger of The Daily Mail.

You might not be battling a ‘beard’ on your face like Adele had when she was pregnant, but many women try to avoid peach fuzz too.

Despite peach fuzz being natural, it can also be frustrating when you are trying to have smooth looking skin, especially on your face.

To avoid drawing attention to your peach fuzz, apply your foundation using downward strokes as part of your DIY makeup routine. Think of applying as you would brushing your hair. You brush your hair in the direction you want it to stay, not the opposite.

If you apply foundation using upward strokes, this pushes the hair up and draws more attention to it.

3. Apply concealer to the important areas on your face when you are in a hurry.

In a perfect world – at least in our perfect world of applying makeup – it’s something you’d have a lot of time to do before we head out the door.

But in reality, things aren’t always perfect. There will be times when your schedule just won’t allow you to take the time you want to apply makeup.

When time is running short, apply concealer to your eyes, around your nose and the corners of your mouth as a DIY makeup trick. This covers the most essential places and can help you get more of the look you want when you are in a time crunch.

4. Use the fluffiest brush to apply powdered makeup.

You can have the most expensive makeup products out there, but without a good brush, it won’t come out the best on your face.

With all of the interest in makeup products, you may overlook a makeup brush as a necessity. But when you are applying products like makeup powder, you will want to use the fluffiest brush possible.

You’ve probably spent time and money buying good makeup products for your skin. Don’t miss out on receiving the maximum benefit from them by using a bad brush.

5. Create your own bronzer from all-natural ingredients.

One of the essential makeup products for women is their bronzer.

“The key is to be very minimal for a natural look,” said makeup artist Pati Dubroff, according to Sarah Wu at Forbes. “There’s nothing worse than obvious bronzer.”

But it can be challenging to find the bronzer that works best for you. It’s also a product you use often so the money you spend can add up. A great way to cut down on some of that extra cost is to use this DIY makeup trick.

Go to your kitchen (or the grocery store) and pick-up cornstarch, cinnamon powder, cocoa powder and nutmeg powder. Mix a small amount of each of these together to get the color tone you want.

It will take some trial and error, but once you find the right mix you’ve got your new bronzer!

6. Heat up your eyelash curler to make it easier to curl your eyelashes.

One of the most fun parts about DIY makeup is the creativity that comes with it.

Many women use eyelash curlers to help make their eyelashes more beautiful. But less of them use heat to help them do it.

All it takes is a blow dryer, an eyelash curler, and some electricity!

Take your blow dryer and hold your curler in front of it. Turn on the dryer and let it blow hot air on your curler. Before applying it to your eyelashes, check the curler to be sure it’s not too hot. (Safety first!)

Your warm curler will help you easily curl your eyelashes and keep them that way longer.

7. Apply heat to your pencil eyeliner to apply it like gel.

When you started reading about DIY makeup hacks, you probably never thought you’d be learning about how to use a flame before applying eyeliner. If so, you were wrong!

If you are looking for a way to turn your eyeliner pencil into a quick gel formula, carefully hold the tip of your pencil below an open flame for just one second. (Remember to be careful!)

Let the pencil eyeliner cool for 20 seconds and then use this newly formed “gel” to your advantage as you apply your eyeliner!

8. Use a slanted hashtag symbol on your eyelids to help create smokey look.

It turns out that hashtags aren’t just for use on social media! They can also help give you an instantly smokey effect above your eyes.

Take your pencil and draw a slanted hashtag symbol on your eyelid. Be sure to position the pencil at an angle and just before the outer corner of your eye.

Now use a makeup smudger brush to blend it in until you have the look you want!

9. Use a spoon to create winged eyeliner and as you apply mascara.

DIY makeup also gives you the chance to get creative with another object from your kitchen – a spoon!

If you want to achieve a unique winged look with your eyeliner, you can use a spoon to help you create the shape you want. Draw a straight line with your eyeliner around the stem of a spoon as you hold it against the edge of your eye.

Then flip your spoon around to the other side so that curved edge of the spoon is against your eyelid. Take your eyeliner pen and draw the upward curve. Now fill in the wings with your pencil!

When it comes to applying mascara, flip a spoon over with the curved edge towards your mirror. Hold the spoon behind your eyelashes so that it protects your eyelids as you put on mascara!

10. Apply your foundation over your blush.

Traditional makeup 101 says that you should apply your foundation and then your blush.

But if you want a fantastic look without having to spend extra money, there’s a simple solution. Reverse that traditional order!

When you apply blush followed by foundation over the top of it, you will have a glowing look. Who would have thought it was just a matter of going against tradition!?

11. Make your own BB cream with a few key ingredients.

If you are looking for a way to even out the skin tone on your face, BB cream is a valuable part of your makeup routine.

But DIY makeup means making your own, not using something you buy in a store.

Gather your compact powder, foundation primer, and sunscreen. Now mix small amounts of each of these to create your very own BB cream.
